TedxUoA 2020: Distortion Performers

Jupiter Project

Gavin Correia and Marty Rich, the two who make up Jupiter Project are a New Zealand duo who have garnered a mixture of indie rock, alternative, hip-hop, and electronica through their music. The duo met at university and later went into the studio to try their hand in music.

Years later, they’ve arguably become household names in New Zealand, having shared stages with Flume, Will.i.am and Jason Derulo while becoming regulars at festivals like Rhythm and Vines as well as charting in the international music scene. They’re no stranger to the TEDxUoA stage, having given their own TEDx talk back in 2017 — this time around, they’re returning as performers to perform some of their latest tracks for us!

Pharaoh Swami

Pharaoh Swami, aka Mez Tekeste, is a rather up and coming singer-songwriter in New Zealand, who doesn’t exactly limit himself to a single genre. He strives to experiment with his music and push himself further outside his bubble of comfort.

Mez was formerly a member of hip hop group “Died in 69”, since then has gone on to perform at Aotearoa’s leading music festivals like Rhythm and Vines and Northern Bass, and has opened for international acts such as A$AP Ferg and Flying Lotus. We’re thrilled to have him on the TEDxUoA stage this year!
