Our Team

Our team took on the task of bringing TEDx to the University of Auckland to initiate dialogue on issues that affect our community. We believe that revolutionary ideas have the power to shape our minds by challenging existing notions. But often these ideas go unheard, because they lack a platform that gives them a voice; we want TEDxUoA to be that platform.

I joined TEDxUoA because I love how TED talks empower anyone to share their stories and be appreciated by millions of people around the world, which is why I'm excited to bring the TEDx experience with an amazing line-up of speakers to our university community!

As a final year engineering and commerce student, I'm passionate about solving problems and TED talks are great ways to spread ideas that can affect the way we tackle the biggest problems of our time. Through making this platform accessible to students, we aim to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.

Hi I'm Shane currently in my final year studying a BCom / BE(Hons) conjoint majoring in Accounting, Finance, and Civil Engineering. I joined TedxUoA because Ted talks have inspired me a lot in the past, and they are a good way to spread ideas in the form of a short powerful talk.

Hi I’m Lisa! I finished my undergraduate degree in Biomedical science and am now doing a Postgraduate Certificate in Information Technology (learning how to program yo!). I also love origami, doodling, LEGO and post-it notes. I joined TEDxUoA because I wanted to help spread the wonder and inspiration TED talks have brought me to all of you!

Hi I’m Cristy! I’m currently in my 2nd year of my Bcom/BSc conjoint majoring in accounting, operations management and statistics. In my spare time I love baking, traveling and watching TED talks because they’re always very inspirational. I joined TEDxUoA so I can help bring TED to UoA and share these inspiring talks with others around me.

Hi, I’m Yuzu. I am studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology. I grew up moving around over thirty places in my life and whenever life seemed challenging, watching TED talks really helped me realise that there was so much more out there in the world than what you can currently see. Speakers ranging from scientists, teachers, actors to students sharing their ideas has empowered me to look at the world differently. I am excited to help bring TED talks to UoA as I think students could gain valuable insights and wisdom that they could carry onto their future.

I’m a third-year student doing a Conjoint Bachelor of Law/Arts majoring in communications and employment relations/management. Last year I was a member of the audience at the main event run by TEDxUoA, I was so inspired by the passion each of the speakers brought. That’s when I knew I had to get amongst it all! I’m super excited that this year I get to be a part of the team that brings the TEDx experience to life on campus! Whoohoo!!
